Important Blood Donation Drive Underway

Dominicans were motivated to come together to be part of these national and international activities.

Many athletes and media figures donated blood, including Jatnna Tavárez, Mirna Pichardo, Iamdra Fermin, Marcos Díaz, Pamela Sued, Gabriella Reginato, Ramón Almánzar, Iván Gómez, Zoila Puello, Vian Araujo, Mariel Araujo and Lizbeth Santos.

“Saving Lives is in Our Blood” was the slogan for the educational and motivational drive developed by the Diagnostic Center, Advanced Medicine, Tele-Medicine and Medical Conferences (CEDIMAT in Spanish) which was organized to educate, motivate and raise awareness about donating blood as a gesture of solidarity and generosity, which First Lady Margarita Cedeño de Fernández joined last week.

Cedeño de Fernández arrived at the health center and immediately filled out the necessary paperwork prior to donating blood. She took advantage of the opportunity to urge all Dominicans to participate in these national and international activities being held on June 14 as part of World Blood Donor Day.

This year’s activities will bring together a group of 60 volunteers belonging to the various programs developed by the Office of the First Lady (DPD in Spanish). The volunteers participated in different activities that formed part of the “Give Blood, Give Life” campaign.

The DPD has undertaken actions to broaden the blood donation programs. For this reason, it took the lead in the “Saving Lives is in Our Blood” campaign, which is being promoted by CEDIMAT along with various private sector organizations. Their goal is to call attention to the need for voluntary blood donations.
