Mexico´s Colorful Beauty on Display at the Museum of Modern Art

The Ministry of Culture, the Board of Directors of the XV International Book Fair Santo Domingo 2012 and the Museum of Modern Art, in collaboration with the Embassy of Mexico in the Dominican Republic, joined together in inaugurating “Mexico, A Colorful Country.” The curator and director of the exhibition is Ricardo Espinosa.

The exhibition, recently in Thailand then will travel to the United States after the DR, is an invitation to discover the wealth of Mexico, to submerge oneself in the light, the color, the images and the words of this marvelous country.

Some  30 pieces make up the photography exhibit which is dedicated to the tones, shades, twilights and luminosity of a land as seen through the eyes of its visitors inhabitants who feel these sensations in all their intensity and strength in natural landscapes, monuments, architecture, art, festivals and popular traditions.

The photographs of Ricardo Espinoza (REO) give us a reading of Mexico that coincides with the images rendered by so many of its poets. Through this, the words are interlaced with those that have been written before, from pre-Hispanic times until today: Nezahualcóyoti, Bernardo de Balbuena, Ramón López Velarde, Carlos Pellicer, Octavio Paz, among other writers.

The show will remain open until May 15 at the Museum of Modern Art of the Dominican Republic, which is located on Pedro Henríquez Ureña Avenue, Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Plaza, behind the National Theater. It is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
