All Facets of María Montéz Bio-Pic Advancing by Giant Steps

Accepted from among 100 film projects in Hollywood, the most important film about the life of the legendary Dominican film star, María Montéz is moving forward at a fast clip.

The project, led by actress and executive producer, Celinés Toribio, is being financed by the Dominican government of President Leonel Fernández, who will morally and economically support a large part of the film´s budget.

It is all a question of time, according to Mexican director, Sonia Fritz, who says that a project about the life of María Montéz cannot done from one day to the other.

“Our goal is to be able to begin filming in the Dominican Republic, bring in the main actors, the foreign press and all of the production team to Barahona and Santo Domingo by this summer,” said Ms. Fritz.

The film already has an official sponsor which is one of the most important in the country and which will be revealed at a formal meeting with the press along with all the other details of the project.

The film was accepted among more than 100 projects at the National Conference of Independent Producers and Filmmakers which filled Celinés Toribo with a great deal of satisfaction and hope at the prospect that the movie was being made with the backing of the international market.

Costume design is already underway and very soon the production team will be launching the “In Search of the 8-to-15-Year Old María Montéz” which will be open to Dominican girls of  that age who can try their hand at being part of this inspirational story.

Names of local actors, known in Latin America as well as two male actors of international fame, are being sought by casting to fill roles that will accompany Celinés in this project.
