Ibero-American University Hosts Panel on International Business

As part of the first International Business Week, the Ibero-American University (UNIBE) held a panel on International Business with the participation of government officials as well as recognized and experienced economists.


On Tuesday, March 26th, UNIBE began its first edition of International Business Week with an academic-entrepreneurial fair.


Speakers included Eddy Martínez Manzueta, Director of the Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD in Spanish), who spoke on the Dominican experience in direct investment. Yahaira Sosa Machado, Director of the Office of Foreign Commerce (DICOEX in Spanish), talked about the opportunities and benefits of the Dominican Republic – Central American Free Trade Agreement, known as DR-CAFTA.


Economist, Juan Guilliani Cury, also spoke about the perspectives and policy changes regarding foreign trade in the Dominican Republic. Ayalivis García, advisor to the Office of Intellectual Property (ONAPI in Spanish), explained the impact of intellectual property rights on international business dealings.


On Tuesday, March 26th, UNIBE began its first edition of International Business Week with an academic-entrepreneurial fair. The objective of Wednesday’s panel was to create a space for discussion in which they dealt with the main international issues that affect the development of business and companies in the DR.


On the 26th and 27th , conferences, panels and seminars were given by local and international personalities. Monday was dedicated to Finance, which in addition to other topics, covered lessons regarding the insurance industry, financial institutions and the capital markets.


Tuesday the 27th was based on Operations Management and Business Leadership with talks on the distribution of products of mass consumption, the management of supply chain, best practices of world class in the management of operations and the importance of Customs Management in the development of the country.


Starting next year, in collaboration with Dominican Junior Achievement, this competition in the Stock Market will be done through an inter-university program.


During the event, the Association of Students of the International Business School was formed. Likewise, UNIBE, its School of International Business, the Office of Foreign Commerce and the Dominican Junior Achievement signed an agreement of collaboration for internships for students of the academy.
