Current President of the Academic Foundation of New Film, Lissette Selman, announced that the first training session resulting from this alliance is scheduled to take place on April 4 when the well-known Nelson Wainstein and his team of 4 professionals will give a workshop entitled “Gaffer, Grip and Camera Assistant.” FANCI has been training individuals in various film skills for the past six years.

Over the course of the twenty-five years since its founding, the EICTV has expanded well beyond its original mandate and its commitment to train filmmakers. The School of All Worlds is forming an alliance with the Academic Foundation of New Film to install, for the first time in this country and among the first in the world, the Beyond the Walls Workshop Program, which seeks to enrich and expand the educational platform FANCI has been offering to Dominicans since its inception.

The International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños de Cuba (EICTV), is considered one of the most important of its kind in the world.

Founded on December 15, 1986 as an affiliate of the New Latin American Film Foundation (FNCL in Spanish), its creators are Colombian writer and Nobel Laureate, Gabriel García Márquez, Argentine poet and filmmaker, Fernando Birri and Cuban producer and theorist, Julio García Espinosa.

Jacqueline Bello Isaías, founder and recent president of the Academic Foundation of New Film, stressed the importance of this agreement, which essentially opens a local access door in the Dominican Republic to the respected EICTV, fulfilling the dreams of many Dominicans who wish to train in film and TV without leaving their country. These students will have access to all film and TV courses offered by the EICTV and will receive a certificate once they complete these workshops in the Dominican Republic.
