“The Love of the Poet” Expo by Daniel Bottero Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, March 1st, 2012
The Museum of Modern Art (MAM for its acronym in Spanish)will open the solo painting exhibition”The Love of the Poet”, by Argentinean artistDaniel Bottero, on Wednesday, March 7, at 7:00 p.m.The exhibition will take place at the MAM, first floor.
“in my search through painting I have found the best way to externalize the feelings that each of us wants to keep hidden in the depths of our being. Each painting I create is an essential part of my inner self.”
This exhibition, consisting of more than thirty pieces, including: Collection 1, 2, 3 and 4, The Strong Bond of Love, Rebuilding the Love, Warm Dimension of Love,and Space to Love, stands out for its color and sensitivity exposing the contemporary style of Bottero, whohas been hailed by international critics as “The Poet Artist”, and his paintings as “Abstract Expressionism.”
In the words of the artist himself: “in my search through painting I have found the best way to externalize the feelings that each of us wants to keep hidden in the depths of our being. Each painting I create is an essential part of my inner self.”He adds: “My work speaks many languages, and communicates on several levels at the same time. A unique psychological interaction between reality and fantasy, which transports the spectator into a dream-like encounter with the sublime.”
Bottero is a graduate of the National School of Arts in Buenos Aires. Later he traveled to Italy where he earned a Master’s degree at the Academia Italiana di Belle Arti,in Lucca. Between 1986 and 1990 he resided in Paris and then made the United States his home.
He currently has a broad portfolio of collective and individual exhibitions, such as the Museum of Latin American Art, in Long Beach; the Emilio Pettorutti Museum, in Austria; the Ponce Art Museum, in Paraguay; the Children’s Museum, in Costa Rica; the Interoceanic Canal Museum, in Panamá; among others. In addition, he has corporate collections such as the Citibank, Xerox, Avon, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan Chase Bank.
“The Love of the Poet” will remain on display until Sunday, April 8, at the Museum of Modern Artof the Dominican Republic, located on Av. Pedro Henríquez Ureña, Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte. Regular hours are Tuesday to Sunday from9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
