Huguette Labelle, President of Transparency International met with Dominican First Lady, Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, in the Office of the First Lady (DPD in Spanish).


Ms. Huguette Labelle appeared to be impressed with the DPD’s Portal of Transparency in that it allows for requests for information, a place to send suggestions, complaints and grievances to the DPD. Users can also connect with other government ministries and attain information about other services they may need.


The First Lady showed Ms Labelle the DPD’s Portal of Transparency, www.transparenciaprimeradama.gob.do, in which all Dominican citizens can obtain detailed information about the DPD and the services it offers.


Ms. Huguette Labelle appeared to be impressed with the DPD’s Portal of Transparency in that it allows for requests for information, a place to send suggestions, complaints and grievances to the DPD. Users can also connect with other government ministries and attain information about other services they may need.


Labelle and Cedeño de Fernández met for more than an hour with the management team of the Office of the First Lady, during which time they exchanged impressions about the Portal as well as other topics.


The President of Transparency International (TI) was accompanied by Mr. Manfredo Marroquín, Director of Transparency International for Central America and the Dominican Republic; Francisco Álvarez, general coordinator of Citizen Participation; Fabiola Medina and Javier Cabreja, Executive Director of Citizen Participation and Mary Fernández, interpreter.

The DPD’s Portal of Transparency was launched in October 2010 and has since offered a variety of tools such as links to the Central Government’s Citizens Service webpage, http://www.311.gob.do/ where citizens can submit complaints, demands, suggestions and get answers to their questions. This site also offers all Office of the First Lady publications in PDF format as well as books, reports, magazines, pamphlets, posters and other published material.
