A  guidebook will be provided to advise producers on specifically how to list the ingredients in their products.

This proposal will be submitted to a committee made up of representatives of the manufacturing sector, consumers, technicians and academics to reach a consensus on approving a document in which all parties can agree.

The Technical Sub-Committee of Meat Hygiene under the Office of Norms and Quality Systems Agency (DIGENOR in Spanish), will meet on Thursday, January 26 at 9:00 am to study the NORDOM proposal 67:19-100,  “Guide to Labeling Packaged Goods,” which will substitute the existing norms and will specify how to clearly list ingredients and components in packaged products.

This proposal will be submitted to a committee made up of representatives of the manufacturing sector, consumers, technicians and academics to reach a consensus on approving a document in which all parties can agree.

When the guide is approved and put into effect, consumers will be assured of the content and ingredients found in the packaged food they consume.

The meeting will take place at the National Council of Fish Production (CONAPROPE in Spanish), located in the Cattle Fair.
