The children who attended the play, “Willie, the Last Adventurer,” received bicycles, dolls, kitchen sets, stuffed animals and many other toys.


The First Lady and her daughter, Yolanda América, handed out bicycles, dolls, kitchen sets, balls, puzzles, stuffed animals and other toys to the boys and girls at the play. The children also received lunch boxes with water, juice, fruit, cookies, cakes and other sweets.


For the seventh consecutive year, First Lady, Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, celebrated Three Kings Day at the theater with some 12,000 children from low income families from various sectors of Santo Domingo.


The play, which had three functions today and will continue tomorrow with another three presentations, underscores human values, family unity and other values which coincide with those promoted by the First Lady´s “National Strategy for a Society with Values, Good for You! Your values make us a better country.”

Children attending the Three Kings 2012 celebration were from families who are members of the Progresando program of Boca Chica, Manoguayabo, Herrera, Villa Mella, Guerra, San Isidro, Villa Duarte, Los Alcarrizos, Capotillo, Cristo Rey, Don Bosco, Haina, Villa Altagracia, Yamasá, Pantoja, Sabana Perdida, Pedro Brand and Los Tres Brazos. Others children attending were part of the Evangelical Mission Churches, Bíblica de la Gracia, Dominican Evangelical and Dios Fuente de Vida, as well as the Renacer Neighborhood Collective, the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo, Oasis of Love, World Vision, the Social Assistance Association, Ecology and Culture, Inc. (ADASEC in Spanish) and children from Dominican families of low income and limited resources.


“Willie, the Last Adventurer,” an Amaury Sánchez production, was performed in the Carlos Piantini Main Hall of the National Theater. Actors included Kenny Grullón, Javier Grullón, Irving Alberti, Yelitza Peña, Miguel Leedor (Papachin) and Amerys Cepeda, in addition to several children: Paula Hernández Ferry, Maya Wilson and Hugo Chávez.
