Christmas as a time for love and sharing is what motivated First Lady Margarita Cedeño de Fernández to share with thousands of low income children from the Cibao region for the seventh consecutive year.

This year the First Lady took the children of the area to see “Willie, the Last Adventurer,” and gave each one a special toy of their choice, turning it into an unforgettable day for the youngsters. Lunchboxes with juice, water, fruit, cookies, buns, and other sweets were also given out.

Children from families participating in the Progresando program, from the Community Technological Center (CTC), from the First Lady’s Amigos y Amigas project, in addition to other children from lower income Dominican families attended the celebration in honor of the birth of Baby Jesus.

“Willie, the Last Adventurer,” produced by Amaury Sánchez, stresses family values of unity, amongst others that coincide with those promoted by the National Strategy for a Society with Values, “Bien por ti!, tus valores hacen un mejor país,” which operates at a national level from the Office of the First Lady.

The play was performed in the Heroes of the Restoration Room of the Grand Theater of Cibao. Actors included Kenny Grullón, Javier Grullón, Irving Alberti, Yelitza Peña, Miguel Leedor (Papachin) and Amerys Cepeda participated in addition to children Paula Hernández Ferry, Maya Wilson y Hugo Chávez.
