Danny Forster Conference on Sustainable Architecture in Punta Cana

The Ibero-American University was the venue for Architect Danny Forster’s conference entitled, “The modern, the vernacular, the sustainable.”

The conference was part of the launch of a Punta Cana Group’s book about sustainable architecture which brings together a series of contributions from a group of Harvard post-graduates who participated in the workshop on sustainable architecture and design under the coordination of Danny Forster.

Edition AAA041 of the Antillana’s Archives of Architecture was also launched.

The Harvard students visited the Puntacana Group for the intensive 10-day program of exchange, workshops and discussion sessions with Dominican engineers and architects who have worked in the company since its inception as well as with executive officers of the Group.

In his welcoming address, Frank Rainieri, President & CEO of the Puntacana Group, said “For the past 15 years, our Ecological Foundation, through the Sustainability Center has served as a laboratory for experiments and initiatives of sustainability and corporate environmental responsibility.”

“With Sustainable Architecture by the Harvard Graduate School of Design for the Punta Cana Resort & Club, we are opening a new level of collaboration with prestigious national and international institutions in order to increase our knowledge and complement our local experience with research and academic experience,” added Mr. Rainieri.

Danny Forster is a well-known expert in sustainable architecture. He is the host of Discovery Channel’s “Mega Constructions” and a aculty professor of resort design and sustainable tourism at Harvard University. He is director of the Danny Forster Studio in New York City.
