The Ultimate Green Exhibition

Dominican painter, José Demetrio Peña, is bringing his one-man, traveling “The Ultimate Green” (El último verde) show home to the Dominican Republic. The show was seen last May-June, 2011 at the Arts Hotel in Bolzano, Italia.

“The office of tourism in Milan, under Neyda García, organized a group show there which I was part of. This was a very positive experience for me to feel closer to home,” said the artist.

“The Ultimate Green” will be Peña’s second one-man show in the DR and his seventh on an international level. Peña has been living in Italy for the last decade, showing his work around all of Europe.

“My first one-man show was in 2001 before moving to Italy. During these years my work has been shown mostly in Europe but I would now like to share my recent work with the people of my own country” said the young artist. He added that despite the fact that he has shown much of his work in different European countries, he has always sought ways to remain closely connected to his own country and people.

José Demetrio Peña was born in Dajabón on February 18, 1971. He graduated from the National School of Fine Arts where he later became a teacher. He has won various prizes and honors for his painting and sculpture.

On an international level, he has participated in group shows in dozens of cities such as Rome, Verona, Milan, Bolzano, La Spezia, Reggio Emilia, among others. He recently set up his own webpage: www.jose-demetrio.com, where he shows his artistic trajectory in the world of fine art.

His work will be on view at the Laboratorio Evolutivo de Arte Contemporáneo beginning on December 15, 2011. The address is: 105 El Conde Street.
