Culture Ministry Sponsors Poetry Workshop with Well-Known Mexican Writer

The Ministry of Culture, through its Department of Literary Workshops and Literary Promotion opened a poetry workshop given by well-known Mexican writer, Mario Bojórquez. It was held in the Ramón Oviedo Art Hall.


Mr. Amaro urged young poets and writers to take advantage of the knowledge and skill that Mario Bojórquez brings to his workshops, given his long experience in teaching these types of courses in his own country as well as abroad.


Valentín Amaro, Director of the National System of Literary Workshops, and Basilio Belliard, Director of Literary Promotion, hosted the opening event along with the writer, Mario Bojórquez.


Mr. Amaro urged young poets and writers to take advantage of the knowledge and skill that Mario Bojórquez brings to his workshops, given his long experience in teaching these types of courses in his own country as well as abroad.


He announced that the classes will be given from 6 pm to 9 pm for a period of five days in a row at the Ramón Oviedo Art Hall. The workshop, added Amaro, will be a practical theory course in which participants will have the opportunity to work and analyze poetic texts.


Speaking at the introductory event, Director of Literary Promotion, Basilio Belliard pointed out that Bojórquez was one of the writers who participated in the First Poetry Festival organized by the Ministry of Culture and that this workshop is part of the Literary Training Program being developed by the Ministry of Culture.


Mario Bojórquez began his workshop by talking about his own experiences as a writer stressing that he was happy to share his knowledge in the Dominican Republic, a country in which he has many friends who are dedicated to poetry. He also praised the constant interest shown by the Culture Ministry as it works to educate and encourage new writers.


Participants at this activity included members of others workshops such as:  Narrators of Santo Domingo, Letra Joven, César Vallejo, Los Nadie (The Nobodies), Las Caobas workshop, Esquina Joven, Armed Forces workshop, among others.
