It has been confirmed that GFDD and FUNGLODE will participate at New York’s Dominican Book Fair to be held from October 7 – 9, 2011.


At the event, which will take place at New York City’s Boricua College, the GFDD will present the recently launched Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Environment, by the Foundation’s Environmental Manager, Emy Rodriguez.


The Executive Director of the GFDD, Natasha Despotovic, will give a presentation entitled, “FUNGLODE/GFDD: Its contribution to the Exchange, Cooperation and Progress in the Dominican Republic and the United States.”


At the event, which will take place at New York City’s Boricua College, the GFDD will present the recently launched Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Environment, by the Foundation’s Environmental Manager, Emy Rodriguez.


The Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Environment, published by the GFDD and FUNGLODE, is an organized and systematized study of the environment and natural resources of the Dominican Republic, in a single volume, which is aesthetically pleasing, attractive and accessible to a wide range of readers, from students to professionals in the area. The first online version, available for now in Spanish only, Diccionariomedioambiente.org of the Dominican Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Environment was published in 2009. Since that time, it continues to be the most comprehensive and up-to-date information on the country’s environment and natural resources.


The Dominican Book Fair is organized by the New York based Dominican Cultural Commission of the United States and was created by Dominican President Leonel Fernández in 2004, with the goal of promoting cultural activity around the USA including places as diverse as Boston, New Jersey, Miami, Chicago and Washington DC, among others.  Boricua College is a post-secondary educational institution located in NYC. The college was designed to serve the educational needs of Puerto Ricans, Dominicans and other individuals from Hispanic origins.  It serves a student population of 1,200.


The Presentation of the Dominican Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Environment will take place on Saturday, October 8 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. in the Dominican Writers of Puerto Rico Room # 406.


The panel in which Ms. Despotovic will present the book will take place on Sunday, October 9 from 4:15-5:15 PM in Franklin Gutierrez hall, on the first floor.
