First Multicultural Food Festival Held in Sosúa

The  Municipal Unit for the Community Heritage of Sosúa (UMPC in Spanish) announced their first “Multicultural Food  Festival” which will be held between September 30 and October 2 in the Las Flores Park of Sosúa.


Under the slogan “Taste a bit of the whole world,” and thanks to support from the Sustainable Tourism Based on Public Private Participation (TURISOPP in Spanish), food lovers will have the opportunity to try select dishes …


Under the slogan “Taste a bit of the whole world,” and thanks to support from the Sustainable Tourism Based on Public Private Participation (TURISOPP in Spanish), food lovers will have the opportunity to try select dishes from a twenty countries represented by 150 restaurants from the areas that have joined this initiative.

Sosúa will be dripping with flavor these three days as they seek their objective of presenting a wide range of multiculturalism through food in a single place. There are over 40 nationalities represented in this food fest which will also feature restaurants, musicians and painters. Cultural activities will be a complement to families who come to enjoy this enriching experience.

Visitors can participate in a program of fun and entertainment designed especially for their enjoyment. Every half hour there will be tastings put on by the different restaurants. Those interested or who need more information, can call (809) 261-2993, or can send an email to: umpc.sosua@gmail.com.

On Friday, September 30, there will be presentations in various restaurants of the Ministry of Tourism’s Folkloric Ballet and the Soul Libre Group.

On Saturday, October 1, there will be family tastings hosted by each of the participating restaurants as well as a chance to bring the children to a face painting booths. There will also be a musical presentation by Viva Wyndham Resorts, Andrew and his Conjunto Típico, Tadeo de Marcos and a fashion show.

On Sunday October 2nd, several plays will be performed. There will also be a cocktail contest, food tastings, face painting and a performance by singer-songwriter Abraham Tamares.

The Multicultural Food Festival of Sosúa was born out of the idea of showing off the food and cooking diversity in this community where there are more than 40 nationalities from around the world. The idea is also to promote the cultural and historical sustainability of the town.
