Dominican First Lady Tours the Social Security Institute of the Armed Forces

First Lady Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, honored for her support of the organization, toured the Social Security Institute of the Armed Forces (ISSFFAA in Spanish), accompanied by Brigadier General Edyson Marte Vásquez, E.N. (DEM). They made stops at the new supermarket, pharmacy and Family Medical Center, all recently opened to provide better services to members of the Dominican military and their families

ISSFFA director, Brigadier General Marte Vásquez, showed the First Lady the variety of reasonably-priced products on offer at the supermarket and pharmacy and the high quality of service available to shoppers

Mrs. Cedeño de Fernández also visited the Family Medical Center of the ISSFFAA where the ophthalmology center is equipped with the very latest, fully computerized equipment. She also visited the modern dental office as well as the pediatric, cardiology and gynecology departments.

As part of the visit, Brigadier General Edyson Marte Vásquez, E.N. (DEM), presented a plaque to the First Lady in recognition of her unconditional support of the medical center which also plays an important role in the struggle against breast cancer as well as training servicemen’s wives through the Progresando program.

At the same time, the First Lady gave the keys to an apartment to Sargent Leya Lapaix Díaz, who recently won it at the ISSFFAA’s Mothers Day celebration.

During the tour of the area, the First Lady was greeted by ISSFFAA employees. She congratulated them on their work and for being key pieces in each one of the services offered by ISSFFAA.
