Enegildo Peña, Deputy Minister of Culture for the Northern Region, is planning cultural events that, month after month, will involve different localities in Cibao.


In addition, the Culture Ministry of the region declared September “Photography Month.”


As part of the event schedule, there will be conferences, workshops, colloquium, performances, exhibits and music festivals. In addition, the Culture Ministry of the region declared September “Photography Month.”


For that reason, murals will be constructed to honor photographers Wilfredo García and Natalio Puras (Apeco). The fourth edition of the National Black and White Photography Contest will be held in the name of Natalio Puras.


Among the international participants are the Colombian Ballet Company and the National Acrobatics Company of Taiwan, both events to be held at the Grand Theater of Cibao on September 8 and 25th respectively.


Workshops will be ongoing throughout September in children’s painting, folklore, theater and crafts every Tuesday in the communities of Matanza Adentro, Barrio Obrero, Valle Verde I, Hato Mayor, Marilopez, La Mina and Yapur Dumit. Every Wednesday there will be workshops in Ensanche Espaillat, El Semillero, Ciudad Satélite, Monte Bonito, Fondo de la Botella, Ensanche Mella I and Cienfuegos.


Other activities include a performance of the Youth Folklore Ballet from the Deputy Ministry of Patron Saints of Santiago Rodríguez and the solo exhibition “Dialogue of the Fauna” by the painter Antonio Guadalupe to be held at the Consistorial de Santiago Palace.
