Distinguished national and international personalities came together at the conference in the Paradisus Punta Cana Hotel where they analyzed the state of money laundering and financing of terrorism.

Speakers included Kristian Hölgue, senior regional advisor from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Latin America and the Caribbean; Jack Blue, member of the Washington DC Bar Association from the District of Colombia Appeals Court and the Supreme Court of the United States and Leopoldo Martínez, international lawyer and co-author of tax, anti-monopoly, international finance, banking and capital commerce laws


From the Dominican Republic, National District Judge Alejandro Moscoso Segarra; Heiromy Castro, monetary crimes advisor to the Superintendent of Banks; Francisco Álvarez, expert in judicial litigation, arbitration, banking and corporate law and negotiations; Luis Núñez Santana, expert in international economic relations and an instructor certified by the Superintendent of Banks.


Organizer of the two-day conference, Venezuelan Attorney Alejandro Rebolledo, gave the closing words: “We live under the shadow of crime, financial crime which is silent but damaging.” He denounced the “double standard” that prevents the successful combating of the crime of money laundering. Mr. Rebolledo is the publisher of the anti-money laundering website: antilavadodedinero.com.


Rebolledo coordinated the invitation of tens of specialists, speakers and government officials from over two dozen Latin American countries, the United States and the United Nations. He called on those present to redouble their efforts to confront the serious crime of money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

Specialists and officials from Spain, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Venezuela, United States, the UN and the Dominican Republic debated the risks facing the economies, private and public sectors as well as the challenges to their financial systems in the face of money laundering.
