Reforestation Program in Los Cacaos

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, EDESUR Dominicana sponsored a reforestation campaign on Paseo del Café hill in the Los Cacaos community of the San Cristobal Province where volunteers from the company gathered to pitch in. 

Throughout the day, they planted 700 cedar trees on the far side of the Paseo del Café hill. They had support from the Quisqueya Verde plan.

Oscar Gómez, deputy communications manager of EDESUR, motivated the company’s employees by emphasizing the importance of taking care of our natural resources as well as taking part in work like this, which is being done on other levels and areas of the company. He thanked those who came out to volunteer and show support for the activity, according to the Press Department of EDESUR.

“It is necessary that we are all aware of the importance of these activities. We are infinitely thankful that you have dedicated these hours of your free time to help your country and our planet. Thank you for your support, commitment and willingness of each and every one of you,” said Gómez.

EDESUR’s Corporate Social Responsibility program intends to undertake four more reforestation campaigns and an ongoing campaign to protect the environment throughout the whole year. The goal of these campaigns is to raise consciousness about the importance of preserving and protecting the natural wealth of the Dominican Republic with the idea of benefitting the ecosystem.

EDESUR is aware that, as a company, it has the obligation to promote socially responsible projects among all of its collaborators and to carry out these types of activities that integrate and bring the area together.
