Through the Teacher Training Program, coordinated by INAFOCAM at Dominican universities, professionals in areas other than education can take these courses and receive a teaching certificate which will accredit them as teachers.

This program was created with the intention of providing a training option for the thousands of non-teaching professionals who would like to change their career but who have not received the necessary teacher training to seek work in this area.

In addition to those professionals already working as teachers, it is of interest to the education authorities to be able to attract graduates from other fields to work in the various areas where teachers are needed in the Dominican public schools.

At the same time, the intention is that teachers who work on the junior high level or professionals with technical-professional experience but with no teaching certificate can also benefit from this program.

Professionals in the areas of health, engineering, natural sciences (chemistry and physics), computer information or any other area with a vocation for teaching are welcome to apply to their district or regional education offices and to get more information on how to be included in the pre-selection process, which open in the coming days.

The Teacher Training Program lasts for approximately one year. To obtain the certificate requires the completion of a total of 28 credit hours.
