The General Management of Books and Reading of the Ministry of Culture offered a workshop titled “The electronic book: Finally, what I always wanted to know. Tools to understand what it is, how it works and what they are for.” The workshop is part of the activities underway at the XIV International Book Fair, Santo Domingo 2011.

Con este curso se capacitó a profesionales y personas vinculadas al sector, procurando brindar herramientas teóricas y prácticas para la solución de los problemas que se presentan en los distintos campos de la edición…

The seminar was given by Colombian expert Jaime Iván Hurtado Bonilla, on the Spanish Patio of the Museum of Modern Art, with sponsorship from the Central Region for the Promotion of Books in America and the Caribbean (CERLALC in Spanish).

The 2-day workshop, with more than 50 people in attendance, included participants such as editors, independent writers and librarians who discussed such question as: What is an e-book? What can I do with it and how? What is an e-book for and how do I incorporate it into my daily life? They also discussed the virtues, advantages and disadvantages of incorporating e-books into libraries.
