The Dominican Tourism Minister (SECTUR) announced that it is has 47 beaches and one seaside spa cleaned up and ready to use by Dominicans and foreign visitors. The beaches and spa, located in the main tourism poles around the country in 14 provinces, are part of the “Tourism for Everyone” program, a joint effort between SECTUR, the Ministry of Environment, syndicates and civil society.


“With the activity we seek to have the beaches and seaside resorts and the areas around them clean and organized so that Dominicans and foreign visitors can enjoy their natural beauty,” ….


The activity forms part of the Public Beaches Clean-up and Re-organization Plan being carried out by SECTUR with funds from the Tourism Infrastructure Works Executor Committee (CEIZTUR). On November 22, the Plan will have been in effect for one year, according to the Office of Press and Communications of SECTUR.

“With the activity we seek to have the beaches and seaside resorts and the areas around them clean and organized so that Dominicans and foreign visitors can enjoy their natural beauty,” said Francisco Javier García, Tourism Minister.

This year’s clean-up and environmental conditioning took place at such beaches as Andrés and Boca Chica in Santo Domingo; Embassy Caribe, Guayacanes and Juan Dolio in San Pedro de Macorís; Bayahibe and Macao in Altagracia and Las Galeras, Punta Popy, Pueblo Pescadores, La Ballena, in Samaná.

Other beaches included Los Yayales, Poza de Bojolo, Los Gringos, Matanzas, Matancita, in Nagua; La Entrada, Bretón, Caletón, Diamante, Playa Grande, Los Mina, Los Muertos and Los Guardia, in San Juan River; Magande Beach, in Gaspar Hernández; Long Beach, in Puerto Plata.

Grande and Chiquita Beaches and La Tuya, in Luperón; Isabela Beach in in La Isabela; Punta Rusia, in Punta Rusia; Buen Hombre Beach in Villa Vásquez; Costa Verde and El Morro, in Montecristi; Boca de Nigua, Najayo, Caracoles, Chiquita Beach and Linda Beach in San Cristóbal; Salinas, in Baní; Nizao Beach in Nizao; Palmar de Ocoa, in Azua; Playa El Cayo, Litoral de la Ciudad, Saladilla, El Quemaito, San Rafael and Los Patos in Barahona; Eagle Bay and City Beach in Pedernales; and Salto de Aguas Blancas in Constanza.

SECTUR has a staff of people at each beach and resort to keep the areas clean and in good shape all year-round. The maintenance staff is equipped with the necessary tools and training to carry out their tasks.

At the moment, logistics evaluations are underway to include the cleaning and environmental conditioning of beaches in Miches, La Romana, Manzanillo, Pepillo Salcedo and the Circuito Lago Enriquillo.
