DominicanaModa Will Close with Carolina Herrera’s Special Fashion Show to Raise Awareness of Breast Cancer Prevention

Organizers of DominicanaModa, in a meeting at the Salon Gallery of First Ladies, part of the Dominican First Lady’s Office (DPD in Spanish), gave details on the “Fashion for Help” program will be held on October 24 with a special fashion show to be given by designer Carolina Herrera. All funds collected at the event will go to the Today is the Best Moment Program.

The program is part of an effort to offer low-income women the opportunity to receive free early-detection breast cancer screenings.

Ana Valdés, Communications Coordinator for the DPD, said that early detection programs are a fundamental tool to combat breast cancer, allowing for the implementation of more effective therapeutic strategies.

From its inception, DominicanaModa was born in the spirit of social responsibility, demonstrating that fashion is a tool capable of providing well-being among the people. This is especially true given that many Dominican families work in and depend on the clothing industry which is an important factor in that a large percentage of the country’s economy depends on exports from this sector.

As a result, and moved by the need that exists in various levels of the society, DominicanaModa created “Fashion for Help.” Funds collected at this event are earmarked for this important cause.

DominicanaModa will take place from October 19-24 in the El Embajador Hotel.
