President Fernández Arrives in New York for UN Meeting


Dominican President Leonel Fernández arrived in New York City on Sunday at 3 pm where he will attend the 64th Session of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in addition to taking part in several other activities including bilateral meetings with other Heads of State.


President Fernández was received in New York by Dominican Ambassador to the US, Roberto Saladín; Natalio Cuello, Dominican Ambassador to the United Nations; Consul General in New York, Rafael Evans as well as other Dominican consular officers stationed in the US.

The President was accompanied by his wife, First Lady Margarita Cedeño de Fernández; Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso; Government Press Secretary Rafael Núñez; Chief of Military Assistants, Héctor Medina; Deputy Director of the DNI Víctor Crispin and special assistant to the President, Danilo Pérez.

On Monday, President Fernández is attending a meeting at the John Jay School of Criminal Justice where he will speak about the implementation of the government’s Democratic Security Plan. The title of the conference, scheduled for 6 pm, is called “The Future of Higher Education in the Dominican Republic.”
