More Than 1,200 Dominican Students to Study Abroad on Scholarships

The Dominican Consulate in Chicago, Illinois was unanimously chosen to hold the Presidency of the Ibero-American Consular Association (ACIC in Spanish) of this state.

Dr. Castillo explained that the election of the Dominican Consulate in Chicago to direct the Ibero-American Consular Association constitutes “an excellent opportunity to generate benefits for Dominicans and it will also help to attract foreign investment”…

The ACIC elected Dr. Giselle Castillo as president of this organization which is made up of consulate mission directors from the governments of Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Dominican Republic, Portugal, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Dr. Castillo explained that the election of the Dominican Consulate in Chicago to direct the Ibero-American Consular Association constitutes “an excellent opportunity to generate benefits for Dominicans and it will also help to attract foreign investment,” reported the President’s Office of Information, Press and Publicity.

Castillo that this position opens the opportunity to create future agreements in the area of education and collaboration in various areas, among other important benefits for the development of the country.

“This election, unprecedented for the Dominican Republic and for the first time under the direction of a woman, is a reflection of the projection and international prestige we have achieved as a country during the administration of President Fernandez,” said Castillo.

The Dominican Consul said she believes that this is a recognition of the consistent course and special dedication to a collective cause that favors the Latin American community in Illinois and the issues that face it.
