Tax Office Has Stand at XII International Book Fair with Tax Information on “Building a Better Country’

The Dominican Internal Revenue Service (DGII) is continuing its Tax Education Program at the XII International Book Fair 2009 which is underway in the Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Plaza until May 4.

The Dominican Internal Revenue Service (DGII) is continuing its Tax Education Program at the XII International Book Fair 2009 which is underway in the Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Plaza until May 4.

The DGII’s slogan for its stand at the country’s 12th edition of the most important cultural event of the year is “With our taxes, we can build our country.” The office holds interesting educational programs daily such as puppet shows, discussions on the Simplified Tax Procedure (PST in Spanish), and exhibitions, among other things.

This year, the Tax Office’s proposal is based on the concept that “We all contribute to make the country better.” The DGII stand offers various educational spaces such as an art gallery with paintings from the winner of the First Internal Revenue Painting Contest, which was held in 2007 and featured artwork done by the children of DGII employees.

There is also an auditorium where educational discussions are being given for various academic levels including group dynamics instruction. Children’s work is also being presented in the auditorium including a musical for children between 6-12 called “Clarita and Grandpa Contribute” being done by the Las Tablas Theater. There is also the puppet show, “A Commitment for Everyone,” with the Gayumba Theater and “Micros and Pericos” by the Guatemalan Tax Culture project.

Throughout the 15 days of the Book Fair, which is dedicated this year to Professor Juan Bosch, a well-trained team is offering personalized assistance to tax payers on the current tax issues such as the Fiscal Printers, PST, as well as the Virtual Office, Contact Center and how to navigate on the Tax Office’s website: http://www.dgii.gov.do/.

Each visitor to the stand, located at the second entrance near Pedro Henríquez Ureña Street just beside the Office of the First Lady’s stand, is given helpful information, educational games, promotional material such as pencil cases, backpacks and other school supplies. Twenty seven countries, more than 150 publishers and 104 writers are attending the 12th edition of the International Book Fair 2009.
