On Thursday President Leonel Fernández cut the ribbon at the inauguration of the Dominican Aeronautics Complex at the Las Americas International Airport. The new complex that will house the headquarters of the Air Navigation, Flight Norms and Superior Academy of Aeronautic Sciences was built at a cost of $676,480,681 pesos.

The important complex was built with the goal of serving seven international airports, eight aerodromes, 150 air companies and 362 registered airplanes…

The Director of the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), José Tomás Pérez, in evaluating it, called it a majestic construction and necessary to culminate the country’s proposed goals in relation to aviation advances, according to the Presidential Office of Information, Press and Publicity.

“We are before a construction of transcendental magnitude that fills us with pride in that its uses and functions will be applied to benefit all of the sectors that are linked to aviation operations in the country,” he said.

He indicated that the project, the most ambitious of his administration, will serve in the training and updating of national and international technicians, which he has stated since the beginning of the project with the support of Dominican President Leonel Fernández.

The important complex was built with the goal of serving seven international airports, eight aerodromes, 150 air companies and 362 registered airplanes operating in Dominican airspace.

Also present at the activity, headed by President Fernández and José Tomás Pérez, were various representatives of different national and international airlines which operate in the country.

Following the cutting of the ribbon on the esplanade in front of the institution, the President and main IDAC officials proceeded to the unveiling of the coat of arms in honor of Norge Botello, the owner entity.

José Tomás Pérez thanked President Fernández for his effort in developing aviation in the Dominican Republic and for not having spared any effort to that end.

The words of appreciation were pronounced by Mr. Felix Rosa Martínez, Air Traffic Controller and President of the Dominican Association of Air Traffic Controllers (ADCA). The complex was blessed by Father José Ulises Botello, Norge Botello’s brother.
