The García Arévalo Foundation and the Dominican Academy of History released “The Constitution of Cadiz and Santo Domingo” as well as a new edition of a Spanish magazine “Mar Oceania.” The event was attended by the President of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Spanish Ambassador.

The magazine includes work by José Alcántara Almanzar, titled “Socio-Cultural Panorama of the Dominican Republic,”

The book was written by the academic Dr. Wenceslao Vega Boyrie and the magazine is published under the direction of the Spanish academic Dr. Mario Hernández Sánchez-Barba. The book and magazine launch was overseen by Czech intellectual José Chez Checo and Manuel García Arévalo, President of the García Arévalo Foundation.

The event included a welcoming speech by Emilio Cordero Michel, President of the Dominican Academy of History, and a dissertation on the Transcendence of the Courts of Cadiz by Sánchez-Barba.

The book, “The Constitution of Cadiz and Santo Domingo” contains 132 pages and is divided into two parts: The Deputy Dominican in the Cadiz Courts 1810-1813 and The Presence of the Constitution of Cadiz of 1812 in the First Dominican Constitution.

The magazine, “Mar Oceana,” edition number 24 of which is dedicated to Santo Domingo, has become, according to García Arévalo, an authoritative and important publication for Spanish and Euro-American humanism.

Edition number 24, in its 138 pages, contains a series of essays on historical and cultural themes around the Dominican Republic authored by Spanish and Dominican writers.

Topics covered include “The Spanish: Original Spanish Time Axis in the New American World,” by Hernández Sánchez Barba; “Behind-the-Scene Diplomats and Political Power: Santo Domingo in International Policy (19th Century) by Almudena Hernández Ruigómez and “A Mission Without Importance? P. P. José J. Cotanilla in Spanish Santo Domingo (1861-1862)”, written by Francisco Javier Gómez Díez.

The magazine includes work by José Alcántara Almanzar, titled “Socio-Cultural Panorama of the Dominican Republic,” “The Cimarronaje in Spanish Colony of Santo Domingo”, by Dr. Carlos Esteban Deive; “The Indian and the Black in the View of the Church and the State,” by academic Fernando Pérez Memén and “The Indigenous Dominican,” by García Arévalo.
