UNPHU Signs Agreement with University of Health Sciences Antigua

The Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University, UNPHU, and the University Of Health Sciences Antigua, UHSA, recently signed a collaboration agreement to implement educational, social, scientific and cultural projects.

The agreement was reached in the rector’s hall of the UNPHU between the Rector Miguel Fiallo Calderón and Deborah Robinson Akande, Vice-Rector of the University of Health Sciences Antigua.

This agreement between the two institutions will promote direct contact, interchange of cooperation between their academic teams, departments, institutes and other research centers. They will hold congresses, conversations and seminars, graduate programs and all other programs of interest to both institutions.

As part of the agreement, the UNPHU and UHSA will facilitate an exchange of students, professors and researchers. They will participate in joint projects as well as bilateral and multilateral research projects.

The School of Health Science and its School of Medicine fulfilled the requirements that recently supported its accreditation in the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA) in the United States. As such, this is being carried out within the framework of the policy of academic excellence demanded by the SEESCYT (Higher Education, Science and Technology) to fulfill the norms of quality education. The UNPHU’s School of Medicine has completed the process of the Five-Year Evaluation by the SEESCYT and has been accredited until the year 2012.

The University of Health Sciences Antigua (UHSA), founded in 1982, and its School of Medicine (University of Health Sciences of Antigua and its School of Medicine) is located in the Campus Dowhill, Piccadilly in Antigua. It is a private institution that seeks excellence in teaching, research and community service.
