Government and Harvard Announce Teacher Training Agreement

Dominican President Leonel Fernández announced that the government will sign an agreement with one of the departments at Harvard University to train professors in a new system that promises to revolutionize the Dominican education model.

President Fernández explained that the program will train Dominican middle school, high school and professors at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo in the application of a new system that promotes critical thought and conflict resolution among the students, according the to the President´s Office of Information, Press and Publicity.

Fernández explained that the agreement will be signed with World Wide Vision. He said the teachers who participate will be able to teach students how to adapt to the thought currents required in this new century. He said the training, to be offered online, will begin the middle of October and that some 90 educators will participate in the first phase.

The president asserted that through this promising teaching system, the Dominican Republic will be able to go from an educational method based on memorization to a system based on critical thinking and its application in day-to- day situations.
