Biodiversity Law Project Submitted to Congress

The Executive office submitted a draft law project to Congress that would allow for the adequate administration, conservation and sustainable use of the country´s biodiversity and natural resources. A second draft law project, submitted through the Senate, calls for the “formulation and conduction of policies to secure modern biotechnology.”

The biodiversity project states that “the Dominican State has sovereignty over the formulation and carrying out of policies concerning biodiversity in the entire country and national territory, all of which is part of the natural patrimony of the nation and there are to be no acquired rights over this territory. Its management, take over, use, exploitation and mobilization will be subject to this Law.”
