Dominican President Leonel Fernández received Mr. Hédi Annabi, the newly-appointed Chief of the United Nations Mission for the Stabilization of Haiti (MINUSTAH).


At the meeting, in the president’s office, President Fernández and Mr. Annabi talked about various issues related to Haiti.

Gerardo Lechevalier, in charge of Political Affairs for MINUSTAH, also participated in the meeting.

In the same Decree, the President named Melanio Paredes as Minister of Education, substituting Alejandrina Germán who will head the Ministry of Women.

Mr. Annabi is replacing his MINUSTAH predecessor Guatemalan Edmond Mulet.

A Tunisian diplomat, the 63-year-old Annabi was the Assistant-Secretary General of the United Nations Department of Peace Keeping Operations since 1997.
