Dominican Cuisine Takes over Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone During TASTE 2018 Gastronomic Festival

Santo Domingo, July 3, 2018 – The annual TASTE SANTO DOMINGO Festival, the first and most traditional event hosted by the country’s food and drink sectors, recently wrapped up its delicious ninth annual event in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone. For three straight days the Zone became the gastronomic city of the Dominican Republic. Thousands of national and international visitors visited the Zone to enjoy the multiple events organized around Dominican gastronomy, specifically in the INDOTEL Telecommunications Center, the Nicolás de Ovando Hotel, the María de Toledo Plaza and the Trampolín Museum.

The closing event could not have been more majestic. At the Trampolín Museum, where the Taste Kids event was taking place, Dominican chef María Marte highlighted the importance of gastronomy for the entire family. This particular event was sponsored by Pasteurizadora Rica, one of the country’s top companies in the production of milk and milk-based products. During her participation, Chef María prepared before an enthusiastic audience a “Yucca Cup Cake with Rica Creme and Quail Eggs.” The public also received with sheer delight the announcement made by Chef María that her project to open a restaurant in Santo Domingo “…is underway and will be formally announced soon.”

The event was sponsored by Grupo Rica, the Ministry of Culture, the Mayor’s Office of Santo Domingo and Banreservas.
