Office of the Vice President Announces Photography Contest Based on National Values Campaign

Santo Domingo, February 8, 2019 – With the objective of promoting human values and strengthen sound moral, ethical and spiritual practices in Dominican society, the Office of the Vice President announced the “First National ‘Good for You’ Photography Contest: Your Values Help Build a Better Nation.”

Professional and amateur photographers may participate in the upcoming contest, especially those who are interested in contributing to a culture that promotes good behavior and solid values at the family, social, political and economic levels.

The contest consists in capturing through the camera lens, and from the perspective of Dominican culture, the 14 values of the national strategy known as “Good for You!” The campaign has been sponsored by the Office of Vice President Dr. Margarita Cedeño since 2010 and its goal is to encourage national unity from a perspective based on social justice, dignity, faith, humility, peace, responsibility, tolerance, and love for your fellow human, honesty, integrity, respect, solidarity and cultural identity.

The deadline for all entries is February 22 and the photographs must have been taken in Dominican territory. The photographs must also depict a storyline that is based on values. Photographers may present up to three photographs, must be Dominican nationals, of legal age, or foreign residents in the country.

The winning photographs, as well as all entries, will be exhibited in Santo Domingo’s Independence Park, in the city’s Colonial Zone, beginning April 15. The exhibit will run through May 15 of this year.


The first place winner will receive a full scholarship for a photography course at the famous Altos de Chavon School of Design, in its Santo Domingo Campus. Also, a Canon D80 camera, equipped with a 50mm 1.8 lens, SD card, battery, charger and cleaning kit.

The second place winner will also receive the same scholarship and the latest BlackBerry telephone.
