Casa de Campo Celebrates “Flavors of the World” by Highlighting Bolivian Cuisine

La Romana, June 25, 2018 – During the entire month of July the world renowned Caribbean tourism resort Casa de Campo Resort & Villas will celebrate for a third consecutive year the “Flavors of the World” gastronomic event, organized to celebrate the gastronomy of Latin America.

For the first time the event will highlight the culture of Bolivia through the Gustu Restaurant, considered by experts to be on the list of the top 50 Latin restaurants.

Chef Marsia Taha is a member of the new generation of talented Bolivian chefs who will present her creations at the Gustu Restaurant.  The restaurant has committed its staff to create innovative and nature-oriented dishes; all prepared with 100% Bolivian products.

The vision of the innovative restaurant goes much farther than to just appear on the top list of restaurants that offer top-quality gourmet cuisine.  It also goes as far as undertaking the tremendous social responsibility of providing gastronomic education to young underprivileged Bolivians.

The co-founder of Noma, Claus Meyer and his Melting Pot Foundation, opened Gustu in 2013 with the goal of launching a new gastronomic movement in Bolivia.

Today, the restaurant has become an independent company featuring a cooking school right in its very own premises.  Many of its students are chefs, waiters and sommeliers.

Meyer believes that food can be an important incentive for social change, which is the reason why he founded the Melting Pot Foundation in 2010. The organization has implemented a project to install cooking schools in Danish jails as a way to motivate inmates and help them break away from the cycle of crime.

Co-sponsored by ICCO, a Dutch NGO, the Melting Pot has also implemented 12 micro-cafeterias and cooking schools in La Paz and Bogotá, Colombia.  In total, some 2,500 students have received basic training in cooking, pastry and baking.

Among the typical dishes found in the La Paz restaurant is the Amaranto Caviar, the Acaí with Amazon Almond Milk, and Malted Wheat, just to mention some of the dishes available.

Guests will also enjoy a truly exotic experience during the July 6-8 weekend at the Restaurant la Piazzetta.

Later on, organizers will present Argentinian Chef Fernando Rivarola, from the El Baqueano Restaurant, from August 3-5; Carlos García and Santiago Gómez from Alto Restaurante, from Venezuela and México, respectively.  They will present their delights the weekend of October 5-7.
