The Second National Hip Hop a la Plaza (Hip Hop to the Plaza) Festival will take place Saturday, January 28 at 6:00 pm in the capital’s Plaza Juan Barón del Malecón of Santo Domingo with the participation of 20 groups from different provinces around the country.


Hip-Hop a la Plaza is a Ministry of Culture (MINC in Spanish) initiative that aims to create an open forum for the characteristic diversity of Hip Hop culture, including its three artistic components: Music, Dance and Graffiti.

The winning groups will receive cash prizes in their categories: Hip Hop (New Style): $ 75,000; $50,000 and $ 30,000 pesos for first, second and third place winners, respectively.


In Break Dancing the prizes are $50,000; $30,000 and $20,000 pesos for the first three winners


The Hip Hop festival, an event that provides collective enjoyment without prejudice or discrimination, breaking the taboos and myths about this urban culture will turn Plaza Juan Barón into a place for the whole family.
