First ¨Green Summer Concert” Held

The Ministry of Environment in cooperation with Claro, Dominican National Beer and the Propagas Foundation joined their efforts to put on the first Green Summer Concert, attended by hundreds of people who came to enjoy the attractions available in these public, protected areas and ecological parks where people can also learn more about taking care of the environment.

The Green Summer Concerts are continuing with the next one scheduled for Sunday July 17th in Parque Manantiales del Cachón de la Rubia, in Santo Domingo East

This first concert, held in Los Alcarrizos Ecological Park, began at 4:00 in the afternoon with performances by Wason Brazobán, Claudio Cohén, Ileana Reynoso, and Enerolisa y sus Salves. Michael Miguel was the MC of the show.

As part of the event, there was a special area created for children called ¨The Little Green Children´s Meeting¨ where the young ones were kept busy and entertained with Origami, puppet, face-painting and recycling workshops. María Moñitos also stopped by, much to the children’s delight.

As part of this first concert, Claro took the opportunity to reinforce their cell phone recycling program, the logo of which is: “For a clearer world, take care of your environment.” [Claro in English means clear.] The company set up containers for concert-goers to leave their old cell phones and other accessories to be recycled in a safe and ecological fashion.

Also in attendance at the concert were Environment Minister, Jaime David Fernández Mirabal, and executives from various companies who support the concert series and are interested in protecting the environment by promoting the Environment Ministry’s initiative to create harmony between art, nature and the people who live near these environmental parks and protected areas.
