The Dominican Commissioner of Culture announces the creation of new cultural programs <\/STRONG> T<\/SPAN>he office of the Dominican Commissioner of Culture in the United States announced the creation of several new cultural programs and events that will take place during the 2014-2015 period. <\/P> \u201cOur goal is to disseminate all styles of Dominican poetry at the international level, and to create connections and friendly relations between Dominican poets and important poets throughout Ibero-America,\u201d <\/P> Among the new cultural events is the Commissioner\u2019s First Poetry Festival<\/STRONG>,which is scheduled to take place in the summer of 2015. <\/P> \u201cOur goal is to disseminate all styles of Dominican poetry at the international level, and to create connections and friendly relations between Dominican poets and important poets throughout Ibero-America,\u201d said Mr. Carlos S\u00e1nchez, the Dominican Commissioner of Culture. <\/P> Another project that was deemed as transcendental by the office of the Commissioner of Culture was the creation of the Audiovisual Memory of the Art and Culture of the Dominican Diaspora, <\/STRONG>which will consist of the creation of historical documents, through the production of documentaries, focusing on the life and work of Dominican artists from the Dominican Republicwho live abroad.<\/P> \u201cWe, as an institution believe that, in addition to the audiovisual record of the culture and art in all its forms, it is the duty of cultural institutions to create, preserve and disseminate a lasting audiovisual memory of the artistic creators \u2013writers, playwrights, painters\u2026\u2013, as a historical document that can be used for consultation and learning for present and future generations,\u201d said Mr. S\u00e1nchez. <\/STRONG><\/P> The Dominican Commissioner of Culture in the United States will create the Commissioner\u2019s Book Club <\/STRONG>as an incentive to promote further reading of Dominican books, especially of those authors that reside abroad. <\/P> \u201cThe objective of the book club consists of the promotion and sharing the experience of reading among the members of the club.On one hand, for the simple delight of reading quality literature, and on the other, to confront ideas and opinions regarding the work,which is mutually enriching and would be promoted by each and every one of the opinions shared by the participants,\u201d said Mr. S\u00e1nchez. <\/P> In addition to this, in 2015 the Dominican Commissioner of Culture will celebrate its First Biennial of Visual Arts <\/STRONG>that is intended for artists of Quisqueyana diaspora and which will cover different forms of art such as paint, sculpture, photography, video art, and installations. <\/P> \u201cWe have various visual artists within our cultural community, and our goal is that the biennial event becomes a vehicle through which established artists will be able to project their work, as well as to become a motivational medium for the emerging artist generation,\u201d said S\u00e1nchez. <\/P> The office of the Commissioner of Culture will also resume publishing the international art and culture magazine \u201cTrama\u201d <\/STRONG>and will launch the Commissioner\u2019s Hispanic Theatre Festival magazine, <\/STRONG>which will cover the history of the festivals that are coordinated by this institution and will serve as a permanent archive on the Hispanic theatre events that take place in the United States and Puerto Rico. <\/P> \u201cWe are also painstakingly working on the creation of more cultural community links <\/STRONG>to expand our relationship with the cultural community and to create two-way bridges of collaboration,\u201d said S\u00e1nchez. <\/P> Similarly, the Commissioner is currently updating and upgrading the Carlos Rodr\u00edguez Library<\/STRONG>,which will include digital copies of Dominican books (per prior agreement with the authors), so that they can be offered to readers through its web portal, which is currently under construction. <\/P> \u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026..
