The collection is capable of integrating a fairly representative anthology of the modern and contemporary art of the Dominican Republic.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>This exhibition is part of the institutional initiative developed by the Museum of Modern Art focusing on the importance of studying the presence and contributions of the cultural patronage in the Dominican Republic.<\/P><br \/>\n<P><STRONG>\u201cRam\u00f3n Oviedo El Triunfo del Esp\u00edritu\u201d<\/STRONG> is an extract from the private collection of Mario Mart\u00ednez Fern\u00e1ndez. He says that he unpretentiously made the decision to put together his collection since the mid 80&#8217;s, along with his wife Socorro Veloz de Mart\u00ednez<STRONG>.<\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P>Amable L\u00f3pez Mel\u00e9ndez, art critic, head curator at the MAM, and curator of the exhibition, explains that as a result of this careful and exemplary protective work of the most authentic values ??and cultural expressions of our country, the private collection of the Mart\u00ednez Fern\u00e1ndez family, currently holds more than 400 works of art. The collection is capable of integrating a fairly representative anthology of the modern and contemporary art of the Dominican Republic.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>He said that the <STRONG>\u201cOviedo Collection\/Mario<\/STRONG> <STRONG>Mart\u00ednez\u201d<\/STRONG> consists of a set of works, roughly characterized by its synthesis and diversity, not only in reference to the works, but also in relation to the languages ??and styles that it transforms. \u201cThis collection includes exceptional findings, made in different creative stages, and in which Oviedo taps into a formidable poly-synthesis of the aesthetic, playful, and thoughtful, as well as a number of works characterized by the intricate patterns of lines, spectrums, phantasmagoria, and fictions\u201d.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>Mar\u00eda del Carmen Ossaye currently serves as the Editorial Director and Coordinator of the events taking place in the framework of the exhibition, where the books <STRONG>\u201cEl Triunfo del&nbsp; Esp\u00edritu\u201d (The Triumph of the Spirit) <\/STRONG>and <STRONG>\u201cEl Esplendor del Mural\u201d (The Mural&#8217;s Splendor)<\/STRONG><STRONG>, <\/STRONG>will be released. Both books are about the life of Maestro Ram\u00f3n Oviedo, winner of the 2013 Visual Arts National Award, presented this week by the Ministry of Culture<\/P><br \/>\n<P>The exhibition will remain open until the end of August.
