




{"id":7007,"date":"2014-07-11T16:24:05","date_gmt":"2014-07-11T12:24:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dominicana-online.org\/?p=7007"},"modified":"2014-07-11T16:24:05","modified_gmt":"2014-07-11T12:24:05","slug":"noti5515","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dominicanaonline.org\/en\/noti5515\/","title":{"rendered":"DREFF Volunteer Meetings Held in Santo Domingo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><BR><br \/>\n<TABLE class=texto width=\"90%\" border=0><br \/>\n<TBODY><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD vAlign=top width=70><IMG class=thinborderfloat1 border=0 alt=\"La IV Muestra de Cine Medioambiental convoca primera reuni\u00f3n de voluntarios\" src=\"\/portal\/noticias\/volunters_65.jpg\" width=65><\/TD><br \/>\n<TD vAlign=top width=7><BR><\/TD><br \/>\n<TD class=texto vAlign=top align=left><br \/>\n<P><STRONG>DREFF Volunteer Meetings Held in Santo Domingo<\/STRONG><BR>Santo Domingo, July 10, 2014<\/P><br \/>\n<P><SPAN style=\"FONT-SIZE: 35px; FONT-FAMILY: Georgia,; FONT-WEIGHT: normal; COLOR: chocolate; LETTER-SPACING: -6px; LINE-HEIGHT: 80%\">T<\/SPAN>he organizers of the fourth edition of the DR Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister institution in the Dominican Republic, <EM>Fundaci\u00f3n Global Democracia y Desarrollo<\/EM> (FUNGLODE), held two meetings with volunteers looking to help out at this year\u2019s Festival, to be held September 10-14, 2014.<\/P><br \/>\n<P class=quote style=\"BORDER-TOP: #cccccc 1px solid; BORDER-RIGHT: #cccccc 1px solid; WIDTH: 30%; BORDER-BOTTOM: #cccccc 1px solid; FLOAT: right; PADDING-BOTTOM: 8px; PADDING-TOP: 8px; PADDING-LEFT: 8px; MARGIN: 20px; BORDER-LEFT: #cccccc 1px solid; PADDING-RIGHT: 8px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: whitesmoke\">Volunteers must be 18 years of age or over, and will be selected on the basis of availability and competency in the given area.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>The meetings took place on Wednesday July 9 at 5pm and on Thursday July 10 at 10am at FUNGLODE headquarters in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>Emy Rodriguez, GFDD\u2019s Environmental Programs Manager, set out the tasks and responsibilities for the aspiring volunteers as well as the schedule, objectives and outreach of this cinematic and educational initiative.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>Ms. Rodriguez explained how being a DREFF volunteer is a unique networking experience that will enable those involved to interact with the DREFF work team, film producers, sponsors, members of the Festival in addition to many other attendees of the event.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>Volunteers must be 18 years of age or over, and will be selected on the basis of availability and competency in the given area.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>This fourth edition of the Festival will screen more than twenty five national and international documentary films in Santo Domingo, San Francisco de Macor\u00eds, Santiago, Ban\u00ed, San Juan de la Maguana, Puerto Plata, Sos\u00faa, La Vega and Saman\u00e1.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>All of the film screenings, panel discussions, and workshops are open to the public and free of charge. In addition, this international film and environmental event will feature awareness raising activities at all eight of the screening venues.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>Since 2011, the DREFF has worked to raise awareness and deepen understanding of environmental issues among Dominican audiences, while celebrating the beauty and diversity of the Dominican Republic\u2019s natural heritage.
