Culture will Commemorate the 130th Anniversary of the Birth of Pedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a this Thursday<\/SPAN><\/STRONG> T<\/SPAN>he program includes the symposium \u201cPedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a; extranjero en patrias\u201d (Pedro Henriquez Ure\u00f1a; a foreigner in homelands), by intellectuals Leila Guerriero, from Argentina, and Andr\u00e9s L. Mateo, from the Dominican Republic. <\/EM><\/P> On the occasion of the commemoration of the 130th anniversary of the birth of intellectual Pedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a, the Ministry of Culture will carry out ??a series of events on Thursday, June 26th, to pay tribute to the life and work of this great Dominican poet and humanist.<\/P> The events will start at 11:00 am with the laying of a wreath at the National Pantheon, the final resting place of the writer, who died on May 11th, 1946, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.<\/P> It will be headed by the Minister of Culture, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Rodr\u00edguez, who will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry, representatives from the Pedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a National University and students from schools in the Colonial City. Leila Guerriero, editor of the newspaper La Naci\u00f3n, collaborator of the newspapers El Pa\u00eds, El Universal, and Exc\u00e9lsior, among others. She won the New Journalism Foundation Award in 2010. <\/P> In addition, Guerriero will participate, along with intellectual Andr\u00e9s L. Mateo, in the symposium \u201cPedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a; a foreigner in homelands\u201d, which will take place in the A\u00edda Bonnelly de D\u00edaz Hall, of the Eduardo Brito National Theater, at 7:00 pm. Writer Martha Rivera-Garrido will be the moderator. Both events are open to the public.<\/P> Pedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a was born in Santo Domingo on June 29th, 1884.
