\u201cA Century of Modern Art in the Dominican Republic\u201d, a selection from the Fernando B\u00e1ez Guerrero Collection at MAM<\/SPAN><\/STRONG> T<\/SPAN>he Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), will open on June 25th, at 7 pm, the exhibition \u201cFernando B\u00e1ez Guerrero Collection \/ A Century of Modern Art in the Dominican Republic\u201d<\/STRONG>, <\/STRONG>composed of the works of 93 Dominican and foreign artists. <\/P> This exhibition is an institutional programmatic initiative, focused specifically on the importance of the study of the presence and contributions of cultural patronage in Santo Domingo. It is the first exhibition solely and entirely carried out with funding from a private collector who, as in the case of Fernando B\u00e1ez Guerrero, covers more than a century of Dominican modern and contemporary art.<\/P> Amable L\u00f3pez Mel\u00e9ndez, Art Critic, MAM\u2019s Head Curator and member of the curator team of the exhibition says that from a brief summary of the historical and creative curatorial context of the proposal, four simultaneous sections stand out in the museum display.<\/P> He adds: \u201cAn exhibition mainly characterized by its elasticity and eclecticism, not only because it is composed by more than 200 works, including paintings on canvas in various techniques and different materials; drawings, wood carvings, prints, and mixed media works on paper, but also because of the coexistence of an extraordinary diversity of languages, styles, trends, visions, and expressive aesthetic decisions in it\u201d. The production and organization of the exhibition is headed by Fernando B\u00e1ez Guerrero and Nancy B\u00e1ez, collectors; Mar\u00eda Elena Ditr\u00e9n, Art Historian and Executive Director of the Museum of Modern Art; Danilo De los Santos, Senior Artist and Historian of Dominican art; Abil Peralta Ag\u00fcero, Director of the Technical Unit of Culture of the House of Representatives; and Amable L\u00f3pez Mel\u00e9ndez, Art Critic and Head Curator at MAM.<\/P> The exhibition will remain open until the end of August, Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the Museum of Modern Art of the Dominican Republic, located on Av.
