\u201cNational Seminar on Copyright and Related Rights\u201d Will Be Held in the DR<\/SPAN><\/STRONG> T<\/SPAN>he event, to be held on May 19-20, is sponsored by the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Ministry of Culture, and the National Copyright Office.<\/EM><\/STRONG><\/P> The Ministry of Culture, the National Copyright Office (ONDA), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced the \u201cNational Seminar on Copyright and Related Rights<\/STRONG>\u201d, with the participation of national and international speakers.<\/P> The meeting, to be held on May 19-20 at the Telecommunications Cultural Center, will bring to the Dominican Republic the most renowned experts in the field. They will address various issues related to copyright in the country and throughout the world.<\/P> The seminar program will address ten issues, among them: \u201cKey Issues of Copyright and Related Rights in the Dominican Republic\u201d, by Dr. Marino Feliz Terrero, Director of ONDA; and \u201cIP Strategy in the Dominican Republic\u201d, by Josefina Aquino, Director of the Intellectual Property Academy of the Dominican Republic.<\/P> Additionally, \u201cComments to the Dominican Republic’s Copyright Act and Related Rights\u201d, by Carmen E. Chevalier, J.D., a lawyer specializing in the subject; and \u201cEconomic Contribution to National Economies of Businesses Based on Copyrights\u201d, a dissertation by Mexican Economist Ernesto Piedras. The subject \u201cCollective Management of Copyright and Related Rights. Tropology\u201d, will be presented by speakers V\u00edctor Drummond, Legal and Development President of Lat\u00edn Artis, and Gabriel Salcedo, Representative of the Association of Rights Management of Audiovisual Producers (EGEDA) of Argentina. <\/P> The subject \u201cOngoing Initiative on Copyright and Related Rights within WIPO\u201d will be presented by Lorena Bola\u00f1os, Program Manager; and \u201cThe International Protection of Copyright and Related Rights. The Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances\u201d, will be addressed by speakers V\u00edctor Drummond and Gabriela Salcedo, representatives of the Association of Rights Management of Audiovisual Producers (EGEDA) of Argentina. <\/P> The following themes will also be addressed: \u201cCopyright and the New Technologies: Challenges and Opportunities\u201d, by Wilson Rafael R\u00edos; and \u201cThe Creative Economy in Latin America\u201d, by Ernesto Piedras, a Mexican Economist.
