The event, originally designed as an international competition for amateur photographers, continues to be an inspirational platform for audio-visual arts projects promoting social justice, peace, and a genuine care and concern for the environment. This year&#8217;s theme is dedicated to the &#8220;<STRONG>Human Species&#8217; Impact on the Environment&#8221;<\/STRONG>.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>DREFF will serve to supplement the exciting and informative program of events by showing the general public 8 of its documentary and short films, free of charge over the course of four days. The program will include two film screenings daily from May 3-6, at the Ateneo Cinematogr\u00e1fico Hall at Maceo\/Frexes and Aguilera, and will help raise awareness and promote best practices around the principle DREFF themes: ocean conservation; climate change; sustainable agriculture; and environmental pollution.<STRONG><U><\/U><\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P><STRONG>Screening Schedule is as follows:<\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P><STRONG><U>May 3, 2014: Theme- Ocean Conservation<\/U><\/STRONG><STRONG><U><BR><\/U><\/STRONG>4:00 PM: <STRONG><EM>Planet Ocean<\/EM><\/STRONG>, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, 94 min. (documentary)<BR>8:00 PM: <STRONG><EM>What Would Darwin Think? Man v. Nature in the Galapagos<\/EM><\/STRONG>, Jon Bowermaster, 48 min. (short film)<\/P><br \/>\n<P>DREFF&#8217;s final film, GFDD&#8217;s produced-short, <STRONG><EM>Garbage or Resource? A Dominican Republic Experience<\/EM><\/STRONG>, on May 6 at 8pm will be followed by a discussion led by Reydi Moreta, GFDD\u2019s Social Networking and Promotion coordinator. It will include additional contributions from the Holgu\u00edn organizers with the objective of strengthening partnerships in this area between Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
