Invasi\u00f3n Biomega wins grand prize at the III National Exhibition of the Children Carnival<\/SPAN><\/STRONG> T<\/SPAN>he Ministry of Culture (MINC) announced the winners of the III Exhibition of the Children Carnival, which was held last Saturday, March 1st, on Ave. George Washington (at the Santo Domingo Boardwalk).<\/P> \u201cInvasi\u00f3n Biomega\u201d (Biomega Invasion), the troupe that won the grand prize, will receive a cash prize of RD$75,000. In the Alibab\u00e1 category, the first prize went to \u201cAlegr\u00eda y tradici\u00f3n inspirada en Venecia y algo m\u00e1s\u201d (Joy and tradition inspired by Venice and more); the second prize went to \u201cAlibab\u00e1 de los Alcarrizos\u201d (Alibab\u00e1 of Los Alcarrizos); and the third prize went to \u201cLa Gran Comparsa de Alibab\u00e1 Tradicional de Villa Mar\u00eda\u201d (The Great Troupe of Traditional Alibab\u00e1 of Villa Mar\u00eda).<\/P> In the Traditional category, the first prize went to \u201cLos Herederos de los Tiznaos\u201d (The Heirs of the Tiznaos); the second prize went to \u201cTradici\u00f3n Dominicana\u201d (Dominican Tradition); and the third place was awarded to \u201cTradiciones de mi pa\u00eds\u201d (Traditions of my country).<\/P> In the Fantasy category, the winning artistic works were: first prize, \u201cLas Gayunberitas\u201d (The Gayunberitas); second prize, \u201cMagia de un jard\u00edn\u201d (Magic of a garden); and, the third prize, \u201cEl mundo de las mariposas\u201d (The world of butterflies).<\/P> In addition, in the Diablo (Devil) category, the first prize went to \u201cAr\u00e1cnidos del Brisal\u201d (Arachnids of Brisal); the second place was awrded to \u201cLos cachorros de Villa Francisca\u201d (The puppies of Villa Francisca); and, the third place went to \u201cLos guerreros\u201d (The warriors). <\/P> In the Historic category the winners were: first prize \u201cInd\u00edgenas del Caribe\u201d (Indigenous people of the Caribbean); second prize went to \u201cLos Bulollitas en la lluvia de colores\u201d (The Bulollitas in the color rain); and the third prize was awarded to \u201cDinast\u00eda de Faraones\u201d (Pharaohs Dynasty). Meanwhile, in the category of Popular Creativity the following were selected: the first prize went to \u201cMu\u00f1ecas de Trapo\u201d (Rag Dolls); the second prize was awarded to \u201cSomos el futuro salvemos los cafetales\u201d (We are the future, let’s save the coffee plantations), and, the third prize went to \u201cLos herederos de los pintaos\u201d. (The heirs of the pintaos).<\/P> And in the Individual category, the first prize went to \u201cEl Duende del Bosque\u201d (The Forest Elf); the second prize was awarded to \u201cSue\u00f1os de Colores\u201d (Color Dreams); and the third prize went to \u201cHomenaje a los Grandes Robalagallinas de Nuestro Pa\u00eds\u201d (Homage to the Great Robalagallinas of Our Country).<\/P> The exhibition was attended by the Minister of Culture, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Rodr\u00edguez; Juan Tom\u00e1s Garc\u00eda (Tommy), Deputy Minister of Popular Creativity and Creation; Ram\u00f3n Lachapelle, Director of Management and Carnival; Milagros Hern\u00e1ndez, Coordinator of Operations of the Carnival; and Samanta Olivero, Director of the National System of Escuelas Libres, among other officers of the Ministry of Culture.<\/P> The jury in charge of selecting the winning troupes consisted of Rosa Milagros P\u00e9rez, actress and children’s entertainer; Jackson Delgado, actor, dancer, and choreographer; Jos\u00e9 Ricardo Ventura, actor and journalist; and T\u00edo V\u00edctor \u201cCient\u00edfico Loco\u201d (Mad Scientist). <\/P> Tens of troupes led by adults and many of them watched over by their parents, were presented to the jury that selected the winning groups of this exhibition.<\/P> This activity was organized by the National Directorate for Carnival of the Ministry of Culture, and 107 troupes from all over the country participated in it.<\/P> The joy, color, and creativity were evident in each of the groups gathered at George Washington Avenue. The carnival activity began with the singing of the national anthem, by the Las Cruces de Moca Escuela Libre Band, followed by the parade of the King and Queen of the Children Carnival, F\u00e9lix Peguero (Cambumbito) and Gladis Yudelka Olea Guilamo (Payasita Tiri). <\/P> Police officers, units of the Civil Defense and the Red Cross worked to ensure public order and security during the activity.
