IV Anniversary of Fundaci\u00f3n Apoyo al Desarrollo de las Bibliotecas Dominicanas (FUNDEBIDO)<\/SPAN><\/STRONG> O<\/SPAN>n Friday, February 28th, Fundaci\u00f3n Apoyo al Desarrollo de las Biblitecas Dominicanas (FUNDEBIDO \u2013 Foundation Support for the Development of the Dominican Libraries) celebrated its IV Anniversary with an event that took place in the Orientation Hall of the Pedro Mir Library at the UASD. The activity began with the notes of the national anthem and Ms. Belka Rosangel Villar Peguero, President of FUNDEBIDO, presented a report with the activities that were undertaken and the achievements obtained in 2013. Additionally, Dr. Martha de Castro Cotes was recognized for her extensive and exemplary career as a professional in the field of Library Science in the Dominican Republic.<\/P> Ms. Lourdes Genao, Director of the Library of the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA) read the profile of Dr. Martha de Castro Cotes. The recognition was presented by the members of the Board of FUNDEBIDO. The event served as an opportunity to also acknowledge the contributions made by two institutions that have been close to the Foundation during the four years since the creation of FUNDEBIDO. They are Ms. Sonia Mart\u00ednez Peguero, Executive Director of the HHS Foundation, and Dominican writer Virginia Read Escobal. They worked together in the Mi Aventura con Los Libros (My Adventure with Books) program, which promotes reading by donating books throughout the national territory.<\/P> On behalf of its members, Ms. Belka Villar thanked the attendees, among them the UASD Library Science Student Association, as well as directors, officers and employees of libraries and other invited guests, for their participation in the event. The activity ended with a musical interpretation by Mrs. Dilcia Cruz, who sang a beautiful song that pays tribute to the book.
