In March: We are Heroines!<\/SPAN><\/STRONG> U<\/SPAN>nder the slogan WE ARE HEROINES! a recital will take place on Saturday, March 1st, 2014 at 4:00 pm at the lNDOTEL Telecommunications Cultural Center (CCT) in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The recital will mark the opening of the events of the 4th Woman Scream International Poetry Festival. This is a special tribute by Movimiento Mujeres Poetas Internacional MPI, Inc (Women Poets Movement International, Inc), to the heroines of our country in all areas, who have built the Dominican nation with their effort. <\/P> The recital will showcase more than twenty national and international intergenerational poetry voices alongside various theater, visual arts, music, and dance artists. Together, they will honor heroines such as: Salom\u00e9 Ure\u00f1a, Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez, Concepci\u00f3n Bona, La Mujeres del 16, Emma Tav\u00e1rez Justo, Piki Lora, Aniana Vargas, Juana Saltitopa, Rosa Duarte, Ercilia Pep\u00edn, Baltazar de los Reyes, Mam\u00e1 Ting\u00f3, the Mirabal sisters, Aida Cartagena Portalat\u00edn, Dr. Evangelina Rodr\u00edguez, among others. As masters of ceremonies, the gala will include leading actress Yanela Hern\u00e1ndez and Dr. Eduardo Gautreau de Windt renowned cultural manager. They will represent the importance of the bond between the sexes in the effort to educate towards a life without violence. The opening remarks will be offered by writer No\u00e9 Zayas on behalf of CCT and of Jael Uribe, Founding President of MPI. The participating female poets from Mexico, Cuba, Russia, Puerto Rico, United States, Nicaragua and Dominican Republic will add their voices to the scream. There will be an innovation, the integration of a special section with male poets, who will be responsible for carrying the message: \u201cA nosotros tambi\u00e9n nos importa esta causa\u201d (We too care about this cause).<\/P> The event has the support of the CCT, La Tertulia Po\u00e9tica Eduardo Gautreau de Windt, La Fundaci\u00f3n Literaria An\u00edbal Monta\u00f1o, Inc., and the Ministry of Culture, among other initiatives and corporate sponsors who have joined the cause. 36 countries participate in the 2014 Woman Scream Festival, with a string of more than 100 simultaneous events taking place throughout the month of March, thanks to the Dominican initiative born almost 4 years ago.
