Jos\u00e9 Ovejero, 2013 Alfaguara Prizewinner, Presents Novel in Santo Domingo<\/STRONG> T<\/SPAN>he writer will discuss La invenci\u00f3n del amor<\/EM> (The invention of love<\/EM>) and the literary profession with two literary connoisseurs.<\/P> The presentation, which is open to the public, will be Tuesday November 26th at 6:30pm at the Cuesta<\/EM> bookstore. Ovejero will confer with the highly experienced readers, bank executives by profession, Mar\u00eda Ang\u00e9lica Haza and Yolanda Valdes.<\/P> Spanish writer Jos\u00e9 Ovejero, receiver of the 2013 Alfaguara Prize, is going to Santo Domingo to present his winning novel La invenci\u00f3n del amor<\/EM>, as part of his promotional tour. The presentation, which is open to the public, will be Tuesday November 26th at 6:30pm at the Cuesta<\/EM> bookstore. Ovejero will confer with the highly experienced readers, bank executives by profession, Mar\u00eda Ang\u00e9lica Haza and Yolanda Valdes.<\/P> La invenci\u00f3n del amor<\/EM> tells the story of Samuel, a 40 year old bachelor who works for a company on the brink of shutting down from the crisis and enjoys watching the daily hustle and bustle of Madrid from a balcony. One day someone calls him on the phone and tells him Clara has died; that unknown woman will become the center around which his life revolves.<\/P> He finds out that the person they\u2019ve confused him with was the secret lover of the deceased, and he gets in touch with her sister, the desirable Carina. Beginning with the initial curiosity, the novel grows and branches out, directly talking to us about loneliness, love and the everyone\u2019s capacity for reinvention and self-deception.<\/P> Jos\u00e9 Ovejero (Madrid, 1958) lives in Madrid and Brussels. He writes novels, stories, essays and travelogues.
