International Book Fair Awards 2013 were presented<\/SPAN><\/STRONG> T<\/SPAN>he Ministry of Culture presented cash prizes and certificates to the winners of the Awards for Journalism, Social Networks, Short Films and Literature of the Santo Domingo Book Fair 2013. These awards represented a total investment of RD$740,000 in payments to jurors and winners.<\/P> Valent\u00edn Amaro, Director of Books and Reading; Pedro Valdez, Executive Director of the FIL; and Pedro N\u00fa\u00f1ez del Risco, Director of Events at the Ministry, chaired the ceremony which took place at the Culture Library, located in La Atarazana in the Colonial City.<\/P> The number of youth and adults who engage in cultural activities increases steadily, and in this way they contribute to building a country that develops and prepares internally through reading, literature and other disciplines.<\/P> The Youth Journalism Award in the category of general culture went to Lilian Gregorina Tejeda; in the social category the winner was Windler Soto Paula; in environment, Mariela Mej\u00eda; and in sports, Estefany Collado.<\/P> All these winners received a certificate and RD$25,000. In the case of Aileen Said Ceballos, who earned a honorable mention in the social category, she received a diploma and a collection of books. The Jurors were Jos\u00e9 Tejada G\u00f3mez, Director of the Department of Communication; Armando Rivera, and Pedro Valdez.<\/P> In Social Networks, the winners were Oscar Mendoza, in the category Facebook, and Sheilly N\u00fa\u00f1ez in the category Twitter. Each of them won RD$25,000. The Jurors were Alex\u00e9i Teller\u00edas, Romina Bayo and Valent\u00edn Amaro.<\/P> The FIL\u2019s (International Book Fair for its acronym in Spanish) Short Film Award went to Alejandro Javier Hiraldo, who won the Grand Prize Book Fair with RD$75,000. Mario Brinio Villasen\u00edn won the Francisco Palau Award, with RD$50,000; and Luis Corpor\u00e1n won the Jean Louis Jorge Award, which included RD$25,000.<\/P> In this category the Jurors were: Tony Brito, from the Department of Audiovisuals, and Bladimir Abud and Manuel Llibre.<\/P> Argenida Romero won the Grand Prize for Youth Poetry, which included RD$75,000. The Jurors were Frank Mart\u00ednez, Rafael Rosario and Marivell Contreras.<\/P> The Grand Prize for Youth Short Story went to Isidro Jim\u00e9nez Guill\u00e9n, with a cash prize of RD$50,000. The following participants won honorable mentions and RD$10,000 each: Vicente Arturo Pichardo, Kianny Antigtua, Joel Marte Torres, Raysa Pimentel, Eswin Ricardo y Mois\u00e9s Santana.
