Villa Francisca hosts its XII Carnival <\/SPAN><\/STRONG>
Santo Domingo, September 15, 2013 <\/P>
\n

T<\/SPAN>he XII Villa Francisca Neighborhood Carnival 2013 was successfully celebrated with the participation of 30 dancing troupes from different sectors of the National District and the various municipalities of Santo Domingo. <\/P>
\n

The carnival was organized by the Association of Dancing Troupes of the National District (ASOCODINA – Asociaci\u00f3n de Comparsas del Distrito Nacional), in coordination with the Directorate General of Cultural and Carnival Management of the Ministry of Culture.
The Villa Francisca Carnival has been held for the last 14 years, always during the month of August, on the occasion of the War of Restoration. <\/P>
\n

This year\u2019s event was dedicated to deceased singer Luis \u201cEl Terror\u201d D\u00edas. The parade began with the King Momo float, under the responsibility of cultural manager Ram\u00f3n Lachapelle, who was accompanied by Marcos Keppis, President of ASOCODINA.
The selection jury of the winning dancing troupes was composed by Edis S\u00e1nchez, Genaro (Yi-yoh) Robles, \u00c1ngel Mej\u00eda, F\u00e9lix Batista Feliz, and Margarita P\u00e9rez. <\/P>
\n

Hundreds of people living in this area gathered for the celebration, mostly children and young people who enjoyed the colorful and diverse costumes. The event also featured dance choreographies, among other attractions. <\/P>
